From Godchild to Godfather: Why I Need urble – and Maybe You Do Too?

From lost bank savings to Bitcoin for my godchild – how urble lets godparents save smarter, with self-custody, cryptocurrencies, and payout rules that stand the test of time.

The Money in the Savings Account – or Not?

Back in the day, it just sat there. Money my godfather regularly put aside for me. Until one day, letters from the bank arrived: identification required for the transfer, come in person, verify documents. At 18, it just didn’t feel exciting enough. The money disappeared somewhere between bank forms and the rush of growing up.

To this day, I don’t know what happened to my money. Was it returned to my disappointed godfather? Did the bank keep it? Was it donated? Now, 25 years later, I feel ashamed of that missed opportunity.

Today I’m a Godfather and a Saver

Today, 25 years later, I’m in the same situation, only on the other side. I’m now a godfather myself, investing for the long term. In Bitcoin, Cardano, and other cryptocurrencies. I like the mix of stability (stablecoins), rewards potential (staking), and the thrill of volatility. Today, I’m fascinated by investing, something my 25-year-old self would have laughed at.

urble: The Perfect Tool for Godparents

That’s where urble comes in: An app that lets me run a smart savings account for my godchild, making regular and spontaneous deposits, or automating it completely like Revolut’s “Jars,” where spare change from payments goes straight into the savings account.

The best part: I can save in the currency of my choice – BTC, ADA, stablecoins – and optionally earn from staking, yield, or other return opportunities.

Saving With Rules and a Personal Twist

With urble, I can even add logic and conditions to the payout: “If you don’t smoke until you’re 18, you will get the full savings; otherwise, some of it goes to a drug prevention charity.” If my savings account back then had been tied to such a condition, I probably would have missed that part of the payout. 😉 Or – and this is the interesting part – maybe I would never have started smoking in the first place.

Who Has the Coolest Godfather?

The coolest godfather isn’t the one with the biggest savings account, but the one who dares to look beyond the obvious. The one who sees the signs of the times and makes decisions today that will still matter in 20 years, for them and for their godchild. And if that money had been in Bitcoin back then, this story might have ended very differently.

👉 Join the urble waitlist today and be one of the coolest godparents, making decisions today that matter for decades.
