Getting Started

What is DFX, and why does urble work with a partner?

urble doesn't handle brokerage activities itself. Converting CHF or EUR into crypto and back is handled by regulated financial intermediaries — currently DFX AG, a Swiss financial intermediary registered with the VQF. Mt Pelerin will be added as a second partner soon. Each partner publishes its own fees and terms on its website.

Do I need to complete identity verification (KYC) to use urble?

Only if you top up by bank transfer. You can deposit crypto from another wallet with no verification. To convert CHF/EUR from a bank account, our partner requires verification first. Full KYC guide.

Deposits & Payments

Can I set up a standing order for my savings account?

Yes. Each savings account has its own IBAN, BIC, and unique reference/message code. Set up a standing order in eBanking using those details and your preferred contribution frequency. Full guide.

How do I get money into my urble wallet or savings account?

Send crypto directly on-chain from another wallet, or transfer CHF/EUR from your bank account for conversion into the crypto asset of your choice. Bank transfers require identity verification first. Full guide.

What is the Message field in my bank transfer instructions, and why does it matter?

It lets our partner match an incoming payment to your account. Copy it exactly into your eBanking Message, Purpose of Payment, Reference, or Note to Recipient field. It is not the structured reference number used for Swiss QR-bill payments. Each savings account has its own unique Message.

Can I pay with urble in stores?

Yes — at Spar stores across Switzerland that support Open CryptoPay, DFX's open payment standard. Tap the QR code icon on the urble home screen, scan the till's code, and choose the crypto asset to pay with. Full guide.

What fees does urble charge?

For CHF Savings, urble takes a share of the yield you earn, between 0.2% and 0.9% — no yield, no fee. Your quoted rate is already net. Partner conversion fees for CHF/EUR and crypto are shown upfront in the transfer estimator.

Savings Plans & Assets

Why are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano and Frankencoin (ZCHF) the only options?

urble is built for saving. Growth assets (BTC, ETH, ADA) suit long-horizon goals; stable yield (ZCHF) suits goals where the amount needs to stay predictable. We plan to add reliable EUR and USD stablecoins, tokenized gold, stocks, and ETFs over time.

What is an urble savings account?

A self-custodial digital piggy bank for yourself or someone else. Choose a target amount, target date, or ongoing structure, and fund it from a CHF/EUR bank account or directly with crypto. Full breakdown.

Does a savings account in Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Cardano still make sense?

Yes, especially for long time horizons and consistent saving. Growth assets suit long-term goals; for a predictable amount needed at a specific time, stable yield (ZCHF) is usually the better fit.

Who is an urble savings plan suitable for?

An urble savings plan is suitable for every saver. Regardless of whether you have a small or large investment capital. In both cases, you can benefit from the savings plan and the purchasing power of Bitcoin and Ether. For short savings periods such as 1-2 years, however, urble recommends saving in stablecoins, as despite the long-term purchasing power of Bitcoin and Ether, a temporary loss in value due to volatility can often lead to an emotional reaction: "What's going on, why am I losing money?".

How can I create a savings account with urble?

Install the app, create your wallet, choose who the account is for, then pick a structure, name it, set contributions and frequency, and choose stable yield or growth. urble shows a forecast chart as you go. Full walkthrough.

Is it possible to pay into a savings plan monthly?

You can not only pay in monthly, but also weekly or even daily. This allows you to benefit from the dollar-cost-averaging effect and to regain your purchasing power in the coming years.

How do I explain Bitcoin to my children?

Bitcoin is a digital currency that can be used to pay on the internet and anywhere in the world. Unlike the euro or US dollar, there are no notes or coins, but Bitcoin is 100% digital and can be taken anywhere.

It is decentralized, as anyone can own the currency without having to go to a bank or ask anyone for permission. Bitcoin is easy to use and requires a wallet, the digital purse where you store your Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is created with computers, in which people all over the world participate in a dice game with computers. The person who can prove fastest that they roll the correct number wins Bitcoin and can then send it to others.

How much does a Bitcoin cost?

The price of one Bitcoin varies constantly. The price is calculated on the basis of supply and demand. If demand is high, the price rises. If it falls, the price also falls. In urble you always see the current price in your chosen fiat currency.

Is it possible to buy Bitcoin with only CHF 10?

Yes. One Bitcoin divides into 100,000,000 satoshis, so you can buy small amounts — as little as CHF 10 with urble. That divisibility makes it suited to a savings plan.

Can you still make money with Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Cardano?

They can be a way to build purchasing power over the long term. While short-term trading is possible, regular buying and holding is closer to a long-term investment in gold or other commodities.

What's the difference between a target amount, target date, and ongoing savings account?

Target amount and target date accounts are for a specific goal and person; you can contribute but cannot withdraw once created. Ongoing accounts have no fixed end and remain flexible: deposit or withdraw any time.

Is the yield on my CHF savings guaranteed?

No. Yield is variable and can rise or fall. In a severe, sustained market shock even a value loss is possible, though Frankencoin's collateral buffers are designed to absorb stress first. Full walkthrough.

Is a CHF savings account the same as a bank account?

No. It is not a bank deposit and is not covered by Swiss deposit insurance. You hold Frankencoin (ZCHF), a digital token that tracks CHF and can differ slightly from it. Full walkthrough.

Can I open more than one savings account?

Yes, as many as you like, whether for your own goals or to save for friends and dependants. Each account has its own name, goal, and dedicated bank transfer details, while everything stays organised in one app. Full walkthrough.

What happens when my savings account reaches its goal?

urble notifies you. You can then use, withdraw, or keep growing the balance — it is your call.

How reliable is the growth forecast shown for my Bitcoin savings account?

It is an estimate based on historical performance, not a guarantee. Bitcoin is volatile and past performance does not predict future results.

Security & Self-Custody

What does self-custody mean?

Self-custody means that you take full control and responsibility for your digital assets. In contrast to custody by a third party, such as a bank or crypto service provider, you hold your assets in custody yourself and therefore have full power of disposal.

Why is self-custody important?

In an increasingly digital world, self-custody gives you the ability to manage and secure your own financial assets without the perceived uncertainty of 'oh god, so much responsibility'. It promotes independence and self-determination because you don't have to rely on external institutions and you don't get into trouble in the event of a problem with an asset held with an institution or the institution itself.

What is Web3 and why is it relevant for self-custody?

Web3 is a new era of the internet based on decentralized technologies such as distributed ledgers and blockchain. These technologies enable a new foundation of trust where everything is verifiable and no central authority is required. Web3 democratizes value creation and distribution and provides more control over your digital identities and assets. In a Web3 context, you can not only read things on the Internet and have the ability to contribute (write), but you can also own elements or call them your own. For example, think about your posts on Instagram, TikTok, etc., which belong to the platform provider and they make money from your data, owning your own posts can enable entirely new forms of interaction and exchange of ownership. At urble, we encourage this approach and believe it's a better way to go.

Is self-custody safe?

Yes, if you take the right precautions. Back up your recovery phrase through encrypted cloud backup or a written backup. Full guide.

What do I need to use self-custody?

To use self-custody, you need the digital wallet urble, which you can install on your smartphone. This wallet allows you to securely store and manage your (crypto) assets. We have paid particular attention to making it easy and user-friendly to use.

What are the advantages of Web3 for me?

Urble is based on Web3 technology and offers many advantages, including:

  • Decentralization: No central authority controls your data or assets.
  • Security: Blockchain technology keeps your transactions and data secure and verifiable.
  • Transparency: All transactions are publicly visible and traceable.
  • Independence: You have full control over your digital identities and assets.

What happens if I lose my smartphone?

If you backed up your seed phrase, install urble on your new phone, choose Restore Wallet, and recover using encrypted cloud backup or your written 24-word phrase. Full guide.

Where can I learn more about self-custody and Web3?

Visit the urble blog for deeper dives, or the How To hub for step-by-step app guides.

What if I lose my seed phrase without a backup?

Your funds are permanently unrecoverable. urble and Brick Towers never have access to your keys, cannot see or reset your seed phrase, and cannot restore your wallet.

Does urble have access to my funds or my seed phrase?

No. urble and Brick Towers cannot see, freeze, move, or recover your funds — only you hold the keys.

Will urble support hardware wallets?

It is planned for a later phase. We are working on access for people who want to secure their keys on a hardware wallet.

Family & Sharing

I have several children. Can I open a savings account for each of them?

Yes. Open a dedicated Bitcoin or CHF savings account for each child, or invite them to open their own linked urble wallet when they are old enough. Family members can be observers and optionally contribute. Full walkthrough.

Can other people contribute to my savings account?

Yes. Invited contacts can deposit crypto via their urble wallet, or CHF by bank transfer where supported. As account holder, you retain sole control over withdrawals.
